Hemorrhoid Symptoms

Hemorrhoid symptoms vary from one person to the next but include:

  • a painful bulge or firm lump around the rim of the anus, which may have a blue or purple tint
  • blood on the toilet paper after a bowel movement. The stool will be very hard or very large
  • blood may be seen on the toilet seat
  • itching, burning, and pain
  • if hemorrhoids bulge out, you may see mucus on the toilet paper or stool

The level of discomfort depends on how serious the hemorrhoids are, but regardless of the severity, it is wise to deal with the problem immediately. While hemorrhoids may not be life-threatening, living with hemorrhoids can be uncomfortable and downright painful!
